In-Person Newborn Photography Group Workshop
Haven is an intimate, in-person newborn photography workshop designed to build strong, calm foundations in a thoughtfully structured small-group setting.
Held in my Dundee studio, Haven offers focused, hands-on learning for six to eight photographers who want to develop confidence through repetition, clarity and real understanding.
How You Will Learn
Throughout the day, you will work in pairs using StandInBaby® — a specially designed newborn training doll that allows you to practise positioning, wrapping, handling and camera angles without the unpredictability of working with a real baby.
This means no waiting for feeds.
No long settling periods.
No pressure.
Just repetition, refinement and real skill-building.
You will also have access to a curated selection of the wraps, blankets and beanbag covers I use in my own studio. This gives you the opportunity to handle different fabrics, see how they behave under studio lighting, and discover what feels right for your own work before investing in your own collection.
A Real Newborn Session
During the workshop, there will also be a short visit from a newborn and their parents. You will observe me working in real time — seeing how I handle, settle and photograph a baby calmly and safely in a studio setting.
This is not a portfolio-building session.
It is an opportunity to understand process.

You will leave with greater clarity, stronger technical confidence, and a deeper understanding of how to handle newborn sessions safely and beautifully.
Lunch and refreshments are provided, and the atmosphere is relaxed, supportive and focused. Working in a small group creates space for thoughtful conversation, shared learning and often the beginnings of genuine friendships within the industry.
Spaces are intentionally limited to ensure every attendee receives personal guidance throughout the day.

The Studio Space
Haven takes place in my bright, minimal studio in Dundee — a calm, thoughtfully designed space created specifically for newborn photography.
It is not an oversized commercial studio filled with unnecessary equipment. It is intentionally simple, practical and entirely achievable for those building their own home or small studio space.
Everything we use throughout the day reflects the kind of setup you can realistically recreate yourself.
