The Simple Six A Beginners Newborn Photography Course
You do not need to be a photographer to take beautiful newborn photographs.
You just need the right method, the right setup and someone to walk you through it clearly. That is exactly what The Simple Six does.
What is The Simple Six
The Simple Six is a structured video course that takes you step by step through everything you need to set up a simple home studio and create six beautiful, saleable newborn photographs in the calm, minimal style of the Mabel & Møøse Method.
It is not a course about becoming a photographer in the broad sense. It is not about understanding light in every situation or mastering a camera for every possible subject.
It is about one thing. Learning to do one thing exceptionally well.
If you follow the method, you will get the results. Every time.
Who is The Simple Six For
The Simple Six is designed for two kinds of people.
Those who are completely new to photography and have always wanted to photograph newborns but have no idea where to begin. And those who are already photographing newborns but getting inconsistent results and cannot work out why.
In both cases the answer is the same. A clear, structured method that removes the guesswork and replaces it with a system that works.
Do Not Let the Technical Side Put You Off
The Simple Six is designed to be completely intuitive. You do not need to understand photography jargon, camera mechanics or technical settings to get beautiful results.
Everything is explained in plain, simple language. The course includes a bonus glossary of terms in case you ever want to look something up, but you will not need it to follow the method. Think of it as a safety net rather than a requirement.
If you can follow a clear set of instructions, you can do this.
About The Camera
One of the biggest worries beginners have is the camera. Which one to buy, how to set it up, what all the settings mean.
The Simple Six removes that worry entirely.
I recommend the Fujifilm X-T3, X-T4 or X-T5 with a specific lens. If you use one of these cameras, the course includes a photograph of every single step through the camera menu so you can set it up exactly as I do for the Mabel & Møøse Method. Once it is set you barely need to touch it again.
Think of it like learning to drive. You do not need to understand what is happening inside the engine. You just need to know which pedal does what. Press this button, move this dial, and you are ready to shoot. The camera becomes a tool configured to do one job beautifully, and your job is simply to use it.
You can of course use any camera you already own. But if you want the complete step by step setup guide, the Fujifilm cameras listed above are what I recommend.
You Do Not Need a Studio
One of the most common reasons people put off starting newborn photography is the belief that they need a dedicated professional space. They do not.
The Simple Six shows you how to create a simple, beautiful shooting space in an everyday room in your own home. I walk you through several different types of rooms and show you exactly what I would do to use each space to photograph newborns. Move this, leave that, position your beanbag here. Simple, practical and completely achievable.
If you have a room with a window, you have everything you need to begin.
What is Inside The Course
The Simple Six is made up of seven video lessons and a bonus glossary, with a combined running time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Each lesson is a narrated slide deck that you can pause, rewind and revisit at any time. Lifetime access means you can return to any lesson whenever you need a refresher.

Introduction to Cameras and Lenses
What you need, what you do not need and how to choose the right equipment without overcomplicating it.

Controlling the Brightness of Your Image
How natural daylight works and how to use it to create soft, consistent results every time.
Creating Six Simple Newborn Photographs
The heart of the course. Step by step guidance through six beautiful, timeless newborn portraits using the clock face positioning method, clear handling instructions and the Mabel & Møøse wrapping technique.
Bonus Glossary
A plain English guide to photography terms, there if you want it and completely optional if you do not.
The Clock Face Method
One of the things students find most immediately useful is the clock face positioning system. Rather than vague instructions about where to place a baby, every position is described in relation to a clock face so you always know exactly where the baby's head, body and feet should be and where the light is coming from. It is precise, repeatable and removes all ambiguity.
This is what the Mabel & Møøse Method is built on. Clarity that leads to confidence.
By the End of The Simple Six You Will Have
A shooting space identified and set up in your own home, ready to use for every session going forward.
A beanbag positioned and prepared correctly so you can welcome a baby with confidence.
A camera configured for the Mabel & Møøse Method so that once it is set up you can pick it up and shoot without touching the settings again.
The ability to create six beautiful, saleable newborn photographs in a calm, consistent style.
A solid foundation in basic newborn handling and safety so you can work gently and confidently around a real baby.
And the most important thing of all. The ability to start earning from your photography quickly, fitting sessions around your life rather than the other way around.
Newborn photography is one of the few creative businesses that works beautifully around family life. Sessions are short, the demand is constant and the work is meaningful. The Simple Six gives you everything you need to begin.
What Students Say
Megan had a good career as a manager but when her son was born everything shifted. She had loved his newborn photoshoot and found herself wanting that life for herself, work that was creative, flexible and built around her family rather than the other way around.
She had never owned a camera when she found The Simple Six. Before starting the course she was ready to invest in an expensive camera she did not need. I asked her to wait, complete the course first and follow the equipment guidance inside. She bought the camera I recommend, found it second hand using the links provided and saved herself a significant amount of money before she had even taken her first photograph.
"It has opened my eyes to how simple it can be. I was very overwhelmed before, which was almost off putting. But I find you easy to listen to and understand. I had already been out looking at studio spaces thanks to the first chapter."
A few weeks later:
"I had a go with my new camera using all the settings from The Simple Six. I think they worked out pretty well as my first images. I just wanted to share the results."
Megan went on to book a one to one mentoring day, started building her business from home and eventually found her own studio space. She now runs her own newborn photography business around her family, exactly the life she had imagined.
